Animation

My project was a lot more difficult than I expected, when I tried to make it look like the pages were actually turning, I got it to work in the first few pictures, then I couldnt replicate the effect in the rest of the pictures.
I didn't realize how hard it was to animate before this project.

BROCURE

This brochure took me a really long time, mostly because it was difficult going through all the tens of thousands of pictures I'v taken, to find which ones I wanted to use in the brochure.
I wasn't sure how much of the brochure should be pictures, but I figured since it was for a photography company it was ok that I filled it with pictures

letter head

I wanted to keep my letter head simple, but with some of the same elements as the business card, like the logo obviously, and then the cameras, and I really liked the black and pink on the camera, so i kept those colors on my letter head.

Final Business Cards

I stayed close to one of my first 5 designs, except I added more color to the back as well as my logo to both sides, to make it more memorable.

I had trouble printing it at Staples because they usually have a minimum print order of 100 cards! and the guy at the computer was having difficulties with the new software they use.

Business Card Ideas

I was looking online at photographer's business cards, and I saw one that used a camera on the back, except it was was die cut, so I did this simpler approach to it.

I couldnt decide if I wanted to use color or not in my design, but I think it is a bit too much pink.

I really like the camera in this, since it is just the outline, and I like my logo being pink, it makes my cards pop.

I wasnt sure if I wanted to use photographs in my cards... I like how the yellow lines on the front match the yellow flowers on the back.

I used the heart aperture ring that I used for my first logo, I cant decide if I should use it or not, because probably not a lot of people know what it is.

Corporate Identity

1)  What is your business?
A photography business.

2) Describe your business in one sentence
I take quality portraits of people.

3) Who is your target audience?
High school seniors or other people who want quality pictures.

4) Who are your competitors?
Other photographers in the Tampa area..

5) What makes them better/worse than your product/service?

Better: Cheaper
Worse: not as much fancy equipment, not as much experience,

6) Do you currently have an identity? (This is more for companies that are already established and you’re just revamping the logo/corporate identity. If you have a new company or product, skip this question.)
No…

7) (If your answer to #6 is no, skip this question)

8) How do you want your image to be seen in two years?

I want be as a company to be seen as a place you can trust for high quality, good value portraits.

9) If your company was an animal, what animal would it be and why?

A kitten, because they are young and playful.

10) If your company/brand was a person, who would it be and why?

Taylor Swift, because she is a good person.

11) If your company/brand was an object, what would it be?

It would be a camera. This is self explanatory.

12) If your customer was a cartoon character, who would it be?
I do not read cartoons. I don’t know.

I CAN SHOW YOU THE WORLD

Sorry I'm not sorry that this is 3x the size it should be.
Obviously the whole world would not fit on just one page!

I used illustrator to make the carpet! the rest was just a LOTTT of cutting and pasting, after I edited the pictures in Lightroom.

SHIP VECTOR

For this project, I chose the word ADVENTURE, and chose the cruise ship that I went around the world in for Semester at Sea.
I thought it was going to be much easier than it really was, especially the life boats were hard to make.
I left the background plain, because it signifies how the ship is always moving all over the world, so anything or anywhere could be imagined behind the ship.

The shape of my logo is based of a Polaroid, to show that it is a photography company.
I wrote the name in a simple font, in all lower case, because I thought it made it look more casual.
I added the aperture blades with a heart in it, to signify my love for photography.
I used this to dot the i, but I also thought I could use it separately,
on smaller designs such as business cards.

Project 1: Logo: Part 2

Here is one logo that I was working on before this class, I didn't know if I liked the black or white text better.  It is supposed to look like a Polaroid picture frame, but I'm not sure how obvious that is, and people might not even know what a Polaroid picture is in a few years...

Here are other designs I might like to incorporate into a logo,
A simple clip art of a camera
Aperture Blades
Dinosaur (Like a Dinasaur...)
A flower, I could add the aperture blades in the center of it?

This heart / aperture blades combination I quickly made on Photoshop. But it is my favorite so far.

Assignment 2: Logo Critiques

 1. NBC
The peacock logo was originally designed to show off color, in the 1950s, when color TV was just starting to come out.  I think the peacock is an effective way showing color, and makes a nicer logo than other colorful things, such as a rainbow.
The current peacock is much more cleaner and modernized than the original, and it is less obvious that it is a peacock compared to some previous logos.

2. I really like how clean the Semester at Sea logo is.  It looks very scholarly, with the text, and the use of blue colors, and the shield.  The design in the shield looks like the front of a cruise ship (because SAS is on a cruise ship...) It could also be seen as an open book, which represents the learning part of the cruise.
3.  I find the Starbucks logo really interesting, because it is so popular and easily recognizable, and yet the design has nothing to do with coffee.  The green color is popularly recognized as the Starbucks green, even though coffee isn't green...

"The symbolism of the mermaid siren was not intended to suggest the demise of the customers who bought the coffee, but rather, to represent the irresistible and seductive quality of the coffee itself." (http://gourmet-coffee-zone.com/starbucks-logo.html)

4.  The Target logo is so simple, yet effective. The bullseye is recognizable, at any size, and can be easily placed on all sorts of items to help advertise for Target. (Like this dog.)  The red is Target's signature color and makes the logo pop.
5.  Teavana is a tea store that promotes healthly living.  The logo is of a person sitting, maybe meditating? while drinking tea.  I think the logo is kind of ugly (The TEA part isn't very emphasized, maybe they are holding a bowl of soup? and the person has a small head and fat arms)  Also the color scheme isn't my favorite.  Purple and orange don't go well together!

Project 1: Logo: Part 1

IDEAS:

1. Contacts that change color based on your mood (like in Twilight)
    Names: Twilight Eyes? TwiEyes? Eyelight?

2. Magic Nail Polish that changes colors with out having to repaint it (Like maybe you choose the color on an iPhone app and it magically changes colors for you) Never comes off.

3. Glossip Girl - New Lip Gloss delivered to your house every day, based off of a pre-picked outfit perhaps?

4. Digital Window - A big digital window in your home or office that shows a live stream of somewhere exotic

5. I want to work on a logo (and business card, letterhead, and brochure) for a photography company, since I really want to do something with photography when I graduate.
Names? Dina Joanna Photography? I can't think of anything creative!

Hi, I'm Dina, I am a junior at the University of Tampa, and am a Communications major and a Marketing and Advertising minor.  I am taking this class because it's required, but I am excited to learn more about Photoshop and the other Adobe programs.
